Specialized Cataract, Lens Replacement & Glaucoma Care in Pasadena
Spectra Eye Care combines advanced surgical technology, academic-level expertise and highly personalized care to help you protect your sight — and experience your best possible vision.
Your vision deserves more than a one-size-fits-all approach.
Spectra Eye Care was founded by Sahar Bedrood, MD, PhD to bring together the expertise and innovation of academic ophthalmology with the attention and accessibility of an independent specialty practice.
Whether you’re navigating cataracts, considering options to reduce your dependence on glasses, or managing glaucoma, your care begins with understanding you — your eyes, your lifestyle and your goals.
Changes to the natural lens of the eye can affect how clearly you see — whether those changes are caused by cataracts or simply occur with age.
Today’s advanced lens replacement options allow Dr. Bedrood to personalize treatment around much more than removing a cataract. Your procedure can be planned around how you use your vision every day, with advanced lens technologies that may improve your range of vision and reduce your dependence on glasses.
Glaucoma treatment has changed dramatically. Today’s patients may have options beyond daily eye drops, including laser treatment, sustained-release medications, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery and advanced surgical procedures.
As a nationally recognized glaucoma specialist and educator, Dr. Bedrood takes an interventional approach — evaluating the full spectrum of treatment options and creating a strategy based on your disease, your eyes and your life.
Dr. Bedrood brings extensive academic, surgical and teaching experience to every patient she treats. Her training includes an MD/PhD from the Keck School of Medicine of USC, ophthalmology residency training at USC/Doheny Eye Institute and glaucoma fellowship training at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins.
Today, she is an invited speaker and educator at ophthalmology meetings nationally and internationally while remaining focused on what matters most: helping each individual patient understand their options and make confident decisions about their vision.

Dr. Bedrood regularly speaks to ophthalmologists and eye surgeons about evolving approaches to glaucoma treatment and surgical care.
Her involvement in physician education, research, publications, professional organizations and advisory boards helps keep Spectra Eye Care connected to advances happening across ophthalmology.
