About the practice
Meet Sahar Bedrood, MD, PhD
Expertise You Can Trust. Care That Feels Personal.
For Dr. Sahar Bedrood, exceptional eye care begins with something simple: taking the time to understand the person behind the eyes and implementing the most advanced technology to give that care.
As an ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery and glaucoma care, Dr. Bedrood combines advanced surgical expertise with a highly personalized approach to medicine. She believes patients deserve more than a diagnosis and a treatment plan. They deserve to understand their condition, know their options, and feel confident in the decisions they make about their vision.
That philosophy is at the heart of Spectra Eye Care.

Why Dr. Bedrood Created Spectra Eye Care
Spectra Eye Care was created to provide a different kind of ophthalmology experience—one where advanced surgical care and personal attention aren’t mutually exclusive.
Dr. Bedrood wanted to build a practice where she could understand her patient’s needs, educate them about their options, and create treatment plans based on their individual eyes and lives.
That means looking beyond a single test result or diagnosis.
How is your vision affecting your day? Are you on eye drops? How are the drops affecting your life? What do you want your vision to allow you to do? How much is your treatment interfering with your everyday life?
Those conversations matter.
Whether she’s helping someone regain clearer vision through cataract surgery, evaluating advanced lens options, or creating a long-term strategy for managing glaucoma, Dr. Bedrood wants every patient to feel informed, heard, and involved in their care.
Specialized Cataract & Glaucoma Care
Dr. Bedrood’s clinical and surgical focus includes the diagnosis and treatment of cataracts and glaucoma. These two conditions can be two separate conditions or sometimes a patient can have both of these conditions at the same time. She can treat both of them.
Her areas of care include:
- Cataract surgery
- Advanced cataract surgery including femtosecond laser
- Intraocular lens selection and premium lens options
- Astigmatism correction
- Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE)
- Comprehensive glaucoma management
- Laser glaucoma treatment
- Interventional glaucoma
- Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS)
- Glaucoma and cataract combination procedures
- Advanced glaucoma surgery
Her experience across both specialties allows her to look at the complete health of the eye when developing a treatment plan.
For patients who have both cataracts and glaucoma, that can be especially important. Rather than approaching each condition separately, Dr. Bedrood can determine how treatment decisions for one may affect the other and whether a combined surgical approach should be considered.
A Modern Approach to Glaucoma
Glaucoma care is changing, and Dr. Bedrood believes treatment should evolve with it.
While prescription eye drops remain an important and effective option, today’s patients may also benefit from laser treatment, sustained-release medication, minimally invasive procedures, and other interventional approaches that can be introduced early in the disease process and help delay or reduce the chance of vision loss.
Dr. Bedrood takes a proactive approach to glaucoma management, considering not only today’s eye pressure but also the long-term health of the optic nerve, the risk of disease progression, and the burden treatment places on the patient’s everyday life.
The goal is always to protect vision while finding the most appropriate treatment for the individual patient.
Your Vision Is Personal
Technology has transformed what’s possible in ophthalmology.
But Dr. Bedrood believes technology works best when it’s paired with thoughtful decision-making.
The newest lens isn’t automatically the best lens for every cataract patient. Surgery isn’t automatically the right next step for every glaucoma patient. And reducing dependence on glasses means something different to everyone.
That’s why your care at Spectra begins with a conversation.
Dr. Bedrood will explain what she sees, walk you through your options, answer your questions, and help you understand the benefits and limitations of each approach.
You’ll make decisions about your vision together.
